Global climate warning: remote entries by Browallia/Nukleus
Over the years, more and more parties have allowed remote entries. Im not against it, but can it be a warning of the global Amiga climate change? Well I honestly think so, still I want them.
Let me fly on.
This year, I was a bit proud of Edison 2019 stating:
“This year we’re also introducing an Amiga ASCII votesheet compo for the Versus 9 chartmag. This compo is the first to allow remote entries.”
Edison, beeing successfully adverted into the multiplatform arena on demoparties, going from small scale to professional business dresscode had never had remote entries before so when we arranged the Versus ascii compo there with huge response, we were of course pleased.
So, is it truelly a push for the climate change?
Not really, well indirect maybe yes. But the affect of more and more remote entries, are
a way to come forward with smaller parties.
Revision – a.k.a “big mama” along demo parties, and voted as the best demo party in the World dont really need remote entries. Revision, Freezing point or M&S value visitors to come over, while smaller parties who want to have compos, allow remotes to be sent in. It is common however, not to give out prices.
But in more recent years, this has also been modified to that prices can be delivered if any (read: not only a group member anymore) can go and get it.
So why do we deliver remote entries? Wasnt the beauty of a demo or intro to be present at the party and look on bigscreen? Well, to answer this question, we have to check the development of streaming posibilities on parties that has increased, so thats good or? Now we can be at all parties but still not be there physically,… or? Some parties have more trouble to get graphic entries than music, so module compo is not allowed has been a common feature.
In the long run, I believe in depletion of the Amiga scene where quality will sink when remote entries are allowed. If you really do someting good, something extraordinary goregous, the live feeling will not be better in that sofa corner.
Now, its time for me to take the carbon dioxide (CO2) bootox nose dip, but before respiration:
Greet Tunberg with this on the screen: Demo for climate change!
