Hi, my name is Helge Kvalheim aka HKvalhe from Norway, hard of hearing.
Been a loyal Amiga user, fan and supporter since 1987. Owned 3 different A1200 systems during the 90s, in which one of them was turned into a Blizzard PPC A1200T system with CyberVisionPPC graphic board. Early 2000s, I owned 3 AmigaOne systems. An AmigaOne G3-SE and 2 AmigaOne G4-XE systems running the pre-version of AmigaOS 4.0. I now own a 12 years old SAM460ex system and a 1 years old AmigaOne X5000/20, running the latest AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Update 2 with latest Enhancer 2.2 package. I have been composing Amiga music for the past 7 years using the NSM patched version of OctaMED SoundStudio v1.03c, now running it on my AmigaOne X5000/20 with latest PPC version of TheMaestrix AHI tool, using a different set of samples from both Walkabout Music and the ST sample collection. I also have several samples of true MIDI instruments like Kawai, Casio, Roland, Yamaha and several others. Useful for studio quality results on the Amiga.
“…but that’s only half the real story of what happened. I will try to explain what really happened.”
I also happen to do a lot of pixel drawing at an amateur level, starting back at 2022, using the PPC native version of Personal Paint (PPaint) on my AmigaOne X5000/20. In 2022, I contributed my first Amiga song and cover for 10Marc’s Amiga Art 2022 Contest. The Amiga MOD that got SECOND PLACE in Amiga Art 2022, was my Last Ninja 4 Level 6 – The Plane Crash song, and I drew the cover for it. I also contributed a lot of Amiga music and artwork to the Amiga Art 2023 Contest, which the latter one never took place, due too many life event changes that happened to 10Marc, but that’s only half the real story of what happened. I will try to explain what really happened.
THE DISPUTE
The true reason was 10Marc not communicating properly with his own Amiga Art group on Facebook. No information about possible plans or changes to the Amiga Art 2023, letting everyone spending 2 years to wonder if the contest was dead or not. Suddenly now, 2 years later, 10Marc announces the Amiga Art 2023 Contest as Amiga Art 5, and chose to EXCLUDE ALL MY PAST CONTRIBUTIONS to Amiga Art. I do admit that I pestered 10Marc for months, but trying to convince him to inform his own Amiga Art group and site as early and in good time as possible, so that people would be aware and prepared, which he did not. The more I tried to convince 10Marc, the more heated it became between me and 10Marc, resulting in each other parting ways. I could have chosen not to react and let 10Marc keep doing his mistake. Regardless of anyone’s saying and actions, he would STILL have made the same wrong choices. After all, Amiga Art is 10Marc’s personal baby, so it means those contests are not really about the contributors but himself only. To make him look famous and important, and to have the whole glory of fame. The thing is, as 10Marc once told me, those contests are not important and they don’t really prove anything. But done is done. I decided after 2023 NEVER to contribute to ANY of 10Marc’s shows, because I don’t want to go through those bad experiences again, and others have stated the same as well. who also contributed earlier and are tired of how bad things turned out. They stopped caring about those contests as well.
MUSIC LOOKING FOR A HOME
Anyway, you find my Amiga music with covers on my HKvalhe’s Amiga Music playlist on YouTube. There are other playlists to check out on my HKvalhe channel on YouTube. The Amiga music I contributed to Amiga Art 2023, which you likely won’t see on 10Marc’s Amiga Art site and contest, are as following:
Amiga music name | type, channels, genre |
---|---|
Moonlight Waltz | 16bit 6ch Amiga Waltz |
Afterlife | 16bit 7ch Amiga Ambient |
Crazy World | 16bit 4ch Amiga Punk Rock |
Always Together | 16bit 5ch Amiga Soul/R&B Ballad dedicated to my 3 dead brothers |
Gone Fishin | 16bit 4ch Amiga Country |

Those were all of my contributions. If you need something or wonder about something, don’t hestitate to contact me. I also have a personal Amiga blog here https://hkvalhex5000.blogspot.com/

Editorial post note: Thanks HKvalhe for your article-submit to us! By browsing through your genre-list, you have a huge variety of styles and I’m eager to listen to them. Your music and graphic surely deserve to be on a reliable – not vanishing – platform. I recommend to drop unreleased music on an upcomming demoparty instead. They will more than happily take your contribution, just check their rules first. For music already released, you can get in touch with Amiga Music Preservation (AMP). I wish your conflict will solve with 10marcs who in case he sees this, can reply in comment-field or send an article-reply. /Brow comm.

Thank you so much for posting my article and enjoying my music. It’s probably unlikely that 10Marc and me will become friends again. Maybe one day, if he only will accept what he could have done differently. I myself could have avoided pesting him for months and just stopped caring. However, it would be wise for 10Marc to have the possibility to see this and make amends for his mistake that made everyone believing that the 2023 contest was dead for 2 years. I told the truth seen from my own perspective and experience. Sending my Amiga music to several upcoming demo parties and shows would be a great idea and help a lot. Thanks again for posting my article and for the really nice feedback. Much appreciated.
