As every year at Easter, I went to Revision demo party in Saarbrücken / Germany. The Party took place from Fr, 18.04. to Mo, 21.04.2025. It was the 15th edition of the party that took place first time in 2011 as a successor of Breakpoint. The slogan of this issue was “Grow Beyond”.
“…the guitar player was carried around on another guy’s shoulders followed by a T. rex when a giant unicorn appeared.“
According the number of registrations at party meister 878 people remote or on site participated to the party. Among them group members of TRSI, Nah-Kolor, Darkage, TTE, Desire, Dekadence, Alcatraz and Spreadpoint. Jens Schönfeld of Individual Computers was present as well this year offering his products.
Like last year, two competitions were held especially for the Amiga, “Amiga Intro” (limited to 64k) and “Amiga demo”. Moods Plateau took part with two entries. One for Amiga Intro and one for the Wild competition.
FRIDAY
On Friday our group members and others had the opportunity to write messages that are shown in the BBStro that was prepared by d0dge for the Amiga Intro competition. In the meantime we took photos together with v3nom / TRBL.
After that we checked the proper reproduction of the oldskool graphics entry “The sphinx’s lair” by Lycan / LNX on real Amiga in advance of submission. Then I gave support to mgt / Drehwerk with converting her C64 multicolor bitmap mode image into some executable for display.

Peregrine / Delicious-Amigans (“Dots Dots Dots”) won 1st round in Shader Showdown and finally reached the finals. It was a pleasure talking to her after meeting her first time at Evoke 2024. In future she want’s to do something exiting on Amiga again.
As already happily expected I also met Hammerfist / Desire in person this time. He already did awesome graphics for one of our 8-bit demos and helped us out with the font for our BBStro entry right now. I also had a short and kind talk to Luisa and Bodo / Rabenauge.
The opening ceremony began with the commemoration of members who have passed away since the last Revision what was a rather sad moment. After that the event program was continued with the Meteoriks award.
The night at the sleeping place behind the bigscreen was very agreeable because it was warm and rather calm in the hall after celebrating the DJ set of Dan / Lemon. and H0ffman on the 2nd Stage.
SATURDAY
The showers on Saturday morning were clean, had warm water and were not crowded at all. Afterward we enjoyed the breakfast with coffee, scrambled eggs and buns topped with sausage around 10 o’clock. The 5k run we left out this time. Instead Viscid / Neoplasia^The Obsessed Maniacs came for a short visit to our place at the table. So we finally could talk shop a little about the Kleincomputer.
At 12:30 pm D!rt!e and me started the video shoot for our Wild competition entry. It took several takes until we had enough material for the opening introduction.

About 21:00 pm the concert of MBR & arottenbit took place. The atmosphere was totally exuberant and it reached its peak at the moment when the soundtrack of the game “Doom” was played. There was an iconic moment during the performance of the song “BAYAREA.BMP” when the guitar player was carried around on an other guy’s shoulders followed by a T. rex when a giant unicorn appeared. Last but not least MBR won in the competitions 1st place with two entries.
After the concert started the combo block containing the Amiga Intro competition with some delay. Our BBStro was shown at this time together with the beautiful entries of Agima, Dekadence, Alcatraz + Spreadpoint, Winners of Revision and Void. Remarkable entries in the Oldskool Demo competition are 3DManiaks 2 by Impact and Vaporous by The Twitch Elite. After the competitions, we allowed ourselves a little sleep.
SUNDAY
One of the earlier competitions that took place on Sunday scheduled for 16:00 pm was the Fast Music competition. Among others that were highly creative, Novel / Moods Plateau attended here. He did a neat chippy tune named “Captain Copperchips” using the samples provided.
The same combo block included the Wild competition where our KC 85/3 entry “8-Bit Breaker” was shown to the audience. The production demonstrated the profoundly enhanced quality of audio replay on a 8-bit computer. Instead of formerly 4 bit, now 5 bit were used here for playback.

In the next combo block, scheduled for 18:00 pm, the Amiga 500 game “Billionaires in Space2 by FiNiTy and Zymosis was shown. This was a kind of Gravity-Force game. Another Amiga game to mention was “Noisy Rabbit”, a Pac-Man clone that reminds somewhat on “Pursuit” on the KC 85 but with the soundtrack of the US-American TV series “Airwolf”. Also worth mentioning is the game “Spherical Worlds: Evolution” by phazze / Reality, which is a remake of the game “Spherical Worlds”, which is known from the Amiga.
One of the Highlights of the party, the Amiga Demo competition, took place in the next compo block. The entries were quite numerous. 15 productions were shown. Remarkable is “Interceptor Intro” by Zymosis & Complex that just used copper and blitter for graphics and music, “3D Demo 3: The Last Drop” by Lemon., “Fire Geisha” by Nah-Kolor, “Lupus Reditus” by Mystic & TRSI, “Skywards” by Darkage and “entropy chamber” by logicoma. There was also a demo from Elude planned for submission, but it was not shown because it didn’t run on the compo machine. So hopefully it can be seen next year or at another party. The PC Demo competition that followed ended late as always at 3:16 am.
MONDAY
The Monday started with Prizegiving at 11:30 am. Surprisingly, we received a trophy for our little BBStro.
All in all, there was some kind of aggression recognizable at the party. The drinking behavior was often not in relation to personal tolerance. It was generally not possible to maintain the toilets in good condition. At some point, the right-hand toilet block was closed completely. Nonetheless it was a wonderful party that I wouldn’t have wanted to miss.
