Diskmags, diskmags, diskmags…

I have been doing this for 20 years now, main editor role with start of Cows n Snakefights 1999 and now 2019 we wire up with this, Versus #9. I feel blessed.

Much has changed. We work as a better team, sharpend our organization knives.
Thanks to the complete Versus team. you are the golden nine.

so to ore out this issue from the gold mine, it would not also be possible without the massive support of Voters.

Thank you so much

Versus music pods of best musicians in the world came out again. And together with the challengers of Amiga music,
we sure could provide you out there with the best Amiga musicians in the world.. Hope you enjoyed the compilation.

  • Many changes in this issue. Starting with the biggest that we increased choices: 10 options instead of 5, which mean 10 to 1 points distributed. This gave a bit more of freedom and also strengthend the reliability of votes.
  • Votes are of course still comparable and can be backtraced from first issue what people voted for. Another big change was that we showed more data in some voting categories – all of course objective stated facts. We do not interfer what people vote for. that would be too complicated, liberation pur.
  • Then we decided to rename the “4k” category to “4k or less”. Already in last issue we hinted about this, and in the database we have, its also stated how many bytes was for that release. Last, we decided to run best old school effect one more time and added a 12th category (we always have 11 categories in the previous 8 issues).

We got the same amount of voters as in previous issue. This is always critical, so breath out and actually, its up to the semi big bottle of Champagne. So dont know if I should pass the keyboard or the bottle to Puni. Hmm I take one more sip of this, and at this hour, I can not multitask 🙂

Brow pass keyboard to Puni

Thanks for handing me the keyboard, Browallia. 🙂 I must say I’m thrilled and excited to welcome you all to a brand new issue of Versus! A year and more has passed since the last issue and a lot has happened in the world of Amiga since then. On the Demoscene we’ve been spoiled with many good releases and a high level of general activity. In the area of gaming, we’ve been able to play new titles such as Reshoot R, Trap Runner and Worthy. Let’s not even start to talk about the release of the Vampire V4 Standalone at the Amiga 34 event in Germany, AmigaOS 3.1.4 from Hyperion Entertainment or new turbo-cards for our classic machines! There is so much happening around the Amiga these days and for that I’m very
happy.

Now, let’s get back topic, namely Versus. It’s been a long journey getting this issue ready for you and it would not have been possible without all the support we’ve received from others on the Demoscene and in the Amiga community in general. I’d like to send out a big thank you to all those who’ve filled out votesheets – it is very appreciated and it is you who makes the charts possible. Also thanks to those who has supported us with modules, articles, graphics and ASCII. You rock! 🙂 Personal thanks goes out to Amiga Ireland, Amigos Retro Gaming, Lorfarius, Vintage is the New Old, 10 Minute Amiga Retro Cast and others for spreading the word about Versus and for helping us collect votesheets. Thumbs up guys and keep up the good work!

Now I’m sure you’re eager to check out the charts, so I won’t hold you back much longer, but before you go, I must say we
got a ton of great content this time. Interesting interviews, party reports, articles and much, much more. Hope you’ll enjoy what we’ve prepared for you. 🙂 Personally, I think Versus is best enjoyed with a nice beverage, perhaps a little snack, in front of the Amiga when the sun is going down in the horizon. Then it’s Amiga time, a magical moment, where you share something commmon with likeminded enthusiasts all around the globe. As we say in Versus, “you are not the only one!”.

Thanks for reading and wish you all a great day. See you in the next issue of Versus or probably earlier when I’m pestering you about filling out the votesheet. 😉 See you! Amiga forever!

Best wishes,

Browallia/Nukleus & Puni/Void
